Host Families: Benefits
The benefits of being a World Experience host family abound. You will have a carefully chosen teenager (15-18 years old) living and sharing with you as a family member. You will learn about a foreign country as no tourist could ever know, straight from a young person who is as anxious to learn about you as he/she is to teach you about their home. You will become part of an international extended family in which you will always be welcome.
You will participate in the selection of your student with a World Experience coordinator. The coordinator will have applications from a variety of students available so you can pick the student that best matches with your family's interests.
You will have a local World Experience coordinator for the entire student stay. The coordinator will help with school placement and travel coordination, conduct student and family orientation events, help arrange social events and provide counseling assistance. You also have the security of knowing World Experience is just a phone call away 24/7.
Host families in the United States are eligible for an income tax deduction for hosting a foreign exchange student sponsored by a non-profit State Department designated youth exchange organization such as World Experience.Opportunities are available for families from around the world to serve as hosts for exchange students from Asia, Europe, South America, Oceania, North America and the Middle East. Depending on the program choice of the student and host family preference, the student’s length of stay may be for four weeks, one school semester or two school semesters.
